Sunday’s Reflection
July 6, 2025
Reflection by Rev. Dr. Leon Dunkley
“Reflections on Interdependence”
At this time, when so much is tumultuous and so much is at stake, how do we stay connected with one another? How do we learn to see ourselves in one another, especially when we disagree? How do we set the conditions so that we can live in love?
Special music for this service comes to us from a marvelous Haitian ensemble called Lakou Mizik. https://lakoumizik.com. “Lakou Mizik is a powerhouse collective of Haitian roots music with a soulful energy and a mix of styles that feels mystical and familiar at the same time.”

Reflection by Rev. Gwen Groff
“Nature itself is the only One.”
Gwen will reflect on this month’s theme of “Interdependence” by exploring human interconnections with other parts of the natural world.
Gwen was the pastor of Bethany Mennonite Church in Bridgewater Corners, Vermont for 24 years. She enjoyed a year as North Chapel’s interim minister of pastoral care during North Chapel’s pastoral search process and again for four months when Leon was on sabbatical. She recently returned from a year as interim pastor at Community Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Gwen lives in Plymouth, Vermont and works as a spiritual director. She and her husband have two adult children.

Monthly Reflection Themes
Worship Theme for July 2025
Interdependence
Who we are is deeply intertwined with where we live. And yet our connection to and with our nearby world is often frayed. Talk of interdependence immediately calls up the work of saving the planet, rightly so. But what if the first step toward saving the planet is learning to speak to it and hear it? And what if nature itself is the only one who can help us remember?

“That’s a Wrap!”
Reflection by Diane Mellinger
“Sing like nobody’s listening.” On second thought, warm up your voice, maintain good posture, breathe properly from the diaphragm, stay hydrated, and sing within your range. Listen to others around you, be attentive, and if you make a mistake - keep going. Have fun, be respectful of others, and above all, know that people actually are listening, so try not to screw it up!
Can I get an “A-men”?
